For the past week the Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance and the Nexus Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy have been honoured to host 8th degree Red Black belt Pedro Sauer in his very first visit to Australia. During his week-long tour, Pedro’s schedule included being the special guest at the inaugural Australian Jiu Jitsu Classic, hosting a mega six hour seminar and performing a number of gradings.

Most prominently, Pedro graded Nexus Academy leader Murat Karadenizli who successfully received his black belt. This was an enormous occasion for everyone involved, and on behalf of all those in the Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance, we congratulate Murat on this incredible achievement. Murat now joins the ranks of Pedro Sauer’s elite black belt team and will be the forth black belt in the Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance.

In addition to Pedro’s visit, the Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance was fortunate enough to take part in the Australian Jiu Jitsu Classic. The competition was held for the first time at the State Netball and Hockey Centre and proved to be a fantastic day of Jiu Jitsu. The event ran very smoothly and could well be the next big Jiu Jitsu event not only in Melbourne, but also the whole of Australia. Well done to Dan Cherubin and the team in putting on such a great event.

Although it’s only April of the current year, the momentum in the Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance is growing month by month. Keep an eye out for more news and events soon!

The Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance is proud to announce it’s upcoming participation in the first annual Australian Jiu Jitsu Classic tournament, to be held on the 16th of April 2011 at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Melbourne. With the full support of the AJJA and many other prominent clubs, the Jiu Jitsu Classic is set to be Australia’s next major national competition.

Given that the Jiu Jitsu Classic will be held on the 16th of April, the Pedro Sauer seminar has conveniently been moved to the 17th of April 2011 and will be held at the same venue, the State Netball and Hockey centre. The seminar will continue to be 6 hours long, and as a bonus, participants will have chance to meet Pedro at the Classic tournament as he will be the tournament’s special guest.

So overall the weekend of the 16th of April is going to be huge with two big events! Register for both ASAP to avoid disappointment. More details can be found below:

8th degree red/black belt Pedro Sauer’s trip to Melbourne has been confirmed and he is going to host a 6 hour seminar for the Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance on the 16th of April 2011. Pedro is one of the most senior black belts in the world. Pedro received his black belt jointly from the founder of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Helio Gracie and his son the legendary fighter Rickson Gracie.

For the Alliance, Pedro’s visit will be particularly exciting as Pedro is also grading Murat Karadenzili to black belt and Phil Grapsas to brown belt. This is fantastic news for the Alliance as it means in total, the team will have five highly skilled black belts leading us to competition victory.

Seminar spots are currently being sold at a special rate of $100 to Australian Jiu Jitsu Alliance members and $120 to the public. Spots are limited and are selling out fast, so if you’re interested please contact Murat ASAP before it’s too late. Murat’s email address is nexusmurat@hotmail.com (nexusmurat null@null hotmail NULL.com)
